Mini S Gas Mileage

I've measured the mileage twice on the '08 S I just bought and both times, I'm getting around 18-20 MPG ... is that what I can expect from it?

I really thought it would be much better than that???

Might be a little low - I believe the standard is 25MPG in the city?. Have you noticed it dropping lately? What's your commute like?

Tks for the feedback ... since I just bought it, I have no base of reference. I figured it might be a bit lower than I expected, since it's an S and it seems to run at a bit higher revs ???

Might be a little low - I believe the conventional is 25MPG in the town. . .Did u really observed that it is losing a bit.

I don't really know if it is losing a bit, since I just bought it ... I'll continue to measure it and post the results ... tks, guys.

Do you know if it's stock? No tunes or anything?

MrRTF 12-14-2012 03:14 PM

I'm pretty sure it's stock or the Salesman where I bought it would have probably 'hyped' any extras ...

Any receipts or records of when the MAF or O2 sensors were last replaced?

MrRTF 12-18-2012 09:46 AM

No receipts for that ... do you think that could materially effect the mileage?

PelicanParts.com 12-18-2012 12:08 PM

Well we've seen pre-cat O2 sensors acting up and causing a number of issues in addition to poor MPG, such as a rough idle...if you know someone with a scanner, use it to pull any codes that might be stored but not lighting up the EML light.
