Default Snow tires?

OK, total newb here, so hopefully this isnt a dumb question.
We have a '16 Countryman (S All4) and the lease comes up next year. At that point we are thinking about buying an '18 or '19 Countryman.
Starting this year we are going to be doing alot more winter driving in ski country (in the past we usually left the Mini home) and Iwas thinking it might be worthwhile to invest in a set of really grippy snow tires and wheels we can just have put on for winter and swapped back to factory all season for summer.
a) Worthwhile idea?
b) Is there any way I can be confident in picking out wheels/tires that will fit on our current '16 and still be able to use them on a newer model next year?
Any advice would be appreciated.. thank you!

A) Worthwhile idea, yes! Snow tires make a big difference in driving in winter. And you save wear on your summer tires.
B) Call tire rack ( no affiliation) they should be able to tell you if it will fit this and next year’s car.
I would suggest you have them mounted on rims. Make tire changes easier to swap the tires and rims instead of taking the tire off the rim and mounting the snow tires on your old rims every season.
just my opinion
