Did the cold kill my Mini?
Hi, I'm Kevin and I am new here.
I drive a grey 2010 Mini Cooper S.
I live in Canada and have been driving through a deep freeze. This week it has been between -30 and -40 degrees Celcius. My car was doing ok until one morning I was driving about 250 km and it started to lose power. I got a error light of a yellow check engine that was half full. Because it was so cold and I was worried about being stranded I kept going. Made it to my destination and parked indoors. That evening I had the same 250km trek and got in my car wondering if it would be ok. It started fine and drove all the way home with no errors and no problems. At home I parked in our attached garage which is cold but not terribly so - probably right around 0 to -5 degrees Celcius. Next day, the car won't start and I am getting the same half full check engine light.
The Battery is less than 1 year old and has a full charge and all connections to it look good.
Any ideas? Did I do some damage by driving it in the cold?
Thanks for any ideas anybody can help with.
Kevin
