Sorry for the newbie questions : between choosing an 06 or an 07 purchase, is there a major performance diff? Don't worry about looks, I am asking about brakes, suspension or engine changes. Or is it mostly a "face lift" type diff?

The 07 has a better engine better mpg and power .Ger the MCS 07 I have one . I have driven both.

You can get an 07 which has more power, or get an 06 drop $600 on a pulley and tune and have more power than the 07. The 06 handles better as well.

 

Wouldn't the 07 bump up also with a pulley and a tune?

I was wondering, I understad the S is supercharged, but many places I see it advertised as "turbo". Are there both kinds, or is it just seller ignorance? I thought maybe they might have changed from one year to another...

 

2006 was the last year for the supercharged ones. It's very hard to get extra power from the 07+ turbo engines.

And "a pulley" is in reference to a smaller supercharger pulley, to spin it faster and make more boost so.. no, you can't do that to the turbo car. And there are no decent tuning options for the turbo motor yet.

 

Ok, the pulley comment comes from me not knowing of the change from supercharger to turbo. I get it now.

I guess you could push the turbo with boos control or rotor changes but it is probably too much $$$ (as compared to a pulley).

One more question on the topic : whats the "reputation" on the supercharger? Dependable? Wears out a lot?

So an 06 would be the last supercharged model. Very cool. I think I would like that. Everybody has turbos these days.

 

If you increase the boost on the new engine it's very likely it'll pop. The supercharger is very reliable, they're designed to go 100,000+ miles.
