air flow out of valve cover!

air flow out of valve cover!
Been having trouble with intermittent stalling. Had some work done. Car runs better. This is a 2007 cooper base model, r56.
Now when I remove the oil cap a strong flow of air comes out and then the engine lurches. When I put the cap back in place the engine smooths out.
Any thoughts?
