Clutch Problems
My wife made a quick stop with her '12 JCW R56 the other day and when she went to leave the clutch pedal wouldn't budge. She pressed hard on the pedal and something snapped under the dash and a piece of plastic fell out. I'm out of town so I wasn't able to help. She was next door to a Midas so she had them take a look at the car. I just talked to them this morning and they think the clutch is bad. I'm hesitant due to the fact that they have little or no experience with Minis. The piece under the dash that broke was the linkage to the clutch pedal. They just put a bolt in temporarily to see if that fixed it but the clutch is still extremely stiff and they were afraid of damaging something if they pressed too hard on it. Before this the clutch worked perfect with no indication of and problems or that it was on its way out. The clutch obviously isn't burned out but it sure could be a flex plate or throw out bearing problem. I'm hoping is something simple though. Has anyone experienced this before and have any suggestion where to start? I really don't want to replace the clutch if we don't have to.
