Fuel Rail?
I have an R56 that is getting no fuel to the fuel rail. I was having some minor engine hesitation and sputtering, and decided to replace the fuel filter. Didn't fix the problem. Replaced the thermostat, didn't fix the problem. Drove around for a day on the new thermostat, then wouldn't start. Seemed like it was a fuel pump, because I had 0 pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. So I replaced the fuel pump. Still no start. I pulled gas line out of the fuel filter cannister, and cranked it and fuel came out of the top of the filter cannister. I took that to mean the pump and the filter are not the problem (but that is an assumption). I then blew into the hose that went into the fuel filter and it would not blow through the other end. I disconnected the line that went into the fuel rail, then went back to the fuel filter hose and blew in and this time it did blow through although there was no fuel in the line. Then hooked it back up to the fuel rail and blew through the fuel filter end and it did not blow through again. Then had my wife depress the little pin in the fuel rail shrader valve while I blew through the fuel filter hose and it did blow through. So am I right in an assumption that something is blocked up in the fuel rail? Its also very possible that it only pulls fuel through the fuel rail when the engine is cranking, in which case it is operating how it is supposed to. Anyone out there familiar with this and understand what is going wrong? It's quite possible that any and all assumptions and conclusions I have made are incorrect, so if anyone knows please help.
