hi there. We recently bought my son his first car. It’s a 2009/10 S. he loves it and I occasionally sneak a ride in it too. Loads of fun

The headlight warning light comes on when you start up the car and it makes its cute little chime. but the problem is throughout the ride (every five - ten minute?) or so it sends off the same warning.

I am trying to figure out if there’s a way to disable the alerts….at least the chime so it doesn’t go off during the ride to tell us about the headlight. if not…then root cause it and address. it gets to be quite a pain in the butt hearing that thing go off every few minutes. and more so it just is kind of a stressor for a new teenage driver

There is in fact nothing “wrong” with the headlights. I have a feeling that since they’re aftermarket xenon headlights the prior owner put in that may be for some reason they’re not playing nicely with the wiring and or setting off a false alert? like maybe they pull more power or something then the OEMs? There’s also aftermarket LED side marker lights. I don’t want to have to start taking stuff off the car and going to the trouble of having to find original OEM parts to put back in there just to get the warning light and chime to go away but if that’s the only solution then we can…

Anyone have any thoughts on why this alert may be getting triggered periodically during the ride? And are there any ways to address it even if just a workaround like disabling they headlight alert? Or more importantly the related chime? Or is there some sort of chime off feature or chime volume feature where we could just turn it down as low as possible?
