I recently bought a 2009 Cooper S. I have been researching performance addons and have some questions for all the wise veterans here. Has anyone tried the Racechip and how did it perform? Has anyone tried K&N Typhoon air intake and how did it perform? And lastly this might be a dumb question but something seems off, "Do all S model Coopers come with an air intake hood scoop?" Thank you for your time.

 

Hey Dusstin, you're on the dot with the hood scoop. As far as the rest is concerned i'm sure they do work pretty darn well.

 

The mini I purchased is an S (marked S on title, side fenders, shifter, and definitely has a turbo with sport mode) but does not have the hood scoop. There are no signs of the car ever having one either. I have seen some S minis in online galleries without the hood scoop but I did not know if it was a swap mod. I can't find an concrete answer. I guess I will have to call Mini to see if my second hand purchase was missing something.

 

Hey Dusstin, that's new one on me. I thought for sure supercharged and turbo models need that hood scoop for more air into the engine bay for cooling purposes. Let me know if you get the answer to your question. Peace.
