Exclamation Possible Electrical/Battery Problem

Recently had a starting issue on a mini 2007 cooper. When I inserted the key the car lit up as usual with the radio and speedometer but when i tried to start the vehicle it just blanked out. I ran down the battery trying to reset the computer and start so when i jumped it the next day it fired up but started giving an error on the power steering. Its now in my driveway and won't start. My problem is is I would like to reset the computer too make sure this error is there before i have to have it towed 3 hrs to the nearest dealer and verify that it might not be a bad battery.

Any suggestions?

I'd try a new battery , or remove it and have it tested/recharged autozone/advanced auto will do it for free
