Bought A 2009 r56 Mini one recently and neither of the key fobs are able to unlock the car without using the manual key.

I have used a TV to check the keys (tuned manually to 434,315, and 868MHz) and it created interference when set to 868MHz so this should rule out dead batteries and buttons.

When using the manual key it unlocks all the doors, and the car is able to start using the fob.

Any ideas?

 

After reading around for a while I found that the receiver for the keys is inside the rear view mirror, so as I haven't been driving it for the last couple weeks I took it out to find water damage in the connector for it. A quick search on ebay for the various numbers on the labels came up with a £20 replacement which is far less than it would cost from a dealership, fitted it this morning and the keys work again.
