Default Resting Mini for a few weeks

Hello
If I rest my MCS for a few weeks and start it I hear a noise for about 15 seconds. i wonder if it is lack of oil in head or the turbo. The sound is almost like a diesel starting . Any ideas ???

sure sounds like a lack oil in the head until the pressure builds and the oil is pumped back up

Some hydraulic lifters require pressure to build up they get noisey till they get pressure... I don't have a manual for the newer ones to see if thats the case

When I got my '09 S and November arrived, I was very concerned the first morning the temp was 20 degrees here in Michigan. I called my dealer and said there must be something very wrong with the valve train.

They flat bedded the Mini to the dealer and when it started and sounded like a diesel, they told me that was how they all sound in the lower temps. It wouldn't get better but they have had no warranty issues associated with the rattle.

I'm used to it now but I am amazed that BMW would sell a car making so much noise at idle.

It's the nature of the beast or shall I say the dog.
