Hello, I have a '07 Mini Cooper S (R-56). I am considering a roof rack. I have found the OEM roof rack, but I was curious if there were any other options out there. I was hoping for an all-black option, preferably one that doesn't sit as high as the OEM rack.

Does anyone have experience with roof racks other than the OEM option?

Careful if you have the sunroof option. The OEM sits high to allow the sunroof to open.

 

How loud is the OEM rack in terms of wind noise? I too am considering adding a rack to my '11 R56. The Thule aeroblade looks nice, but very spendy.

 

The OEM rack is too loud to have the roof open above about 45 mph. This is a huge disappointment, as we use the rack and so it is the expensive sun roof that goes unused.
