RPM-increased growling noise
Hi all,
Car: Mini Cooper 1.6L R56 2009.
Main Problem: Increased stress/growling noise when the car hits the range 1000-2000 revs, happens in any gear.
Side effects as a result: Car feels jerky. Feel like I’m increasing the damage on the engine.
Detailed: When the car goes through the RPM 1000-2000 it makes a noticeable growling noise, basically sounds like I’m trying to race someone. It’s worst when setting off from gear one, normally it’s fairly quiet but now it makes such a harsh noise. It happens in any gear at any speed, as soon as it hits that RPM bracket. The frustrating thing is, it’s only happening on some journeys. Increased probability of happening in the morning when driving to work.
My friend loves fixing/building cars, I’m taking it to his on Friday. Any pointers I can give him on where to look etc?
If anyone is reading this and needing some more info, then happy to give some more.
Thankyou!
