I've wanted a mini for a while now and may actually take the plunge. I have a few questions:

• Is the 2016 mini cooper S slower than in previous years?
• reliability AND repair cost (due to awkward layout) has always been known to be an issue. is anything new in the 2016 models that fundamentally improves this?
• if you own a 2016 mini cooper s or JCW, would you recommend one to your friends?
• anything else you can tell me or suggest? any advice?

Too bad about lack of responses. I've ordered a '17 Cooper S 2-door HT. All I can tell you is that the local dealer gave us a 24-hour test drive of the sales manager's '16 S 2-door, and we really liked it. We'll just have to see how long-term ownership of the car suits us. Good luck with yours if you now have one!

 

We picked up a 2010 S Hatch - only had 40K miles. Had it a month and the thermostat housing cracked and the AC compressor shorted and killed the compressor. Some of this was covered by the 90-day short warranty; we split the balance with the dealer. Otherwise, fun little ride. We autocross so picked up some 17x7.5 wheels and some 200 wear tires. Awesome handling.
