Ok, this seems like a stupid question to me- I thought that sport mode was specific to S models, but am I wrong?

Here's why I'm asking this right now- I came across an ad for a Cooper S that has all the 'S' emblems (wheels, too), but the owner claims 'it's not actually an S and it has no turbo'.. what? is this possible? I mean, certainly it's possible that somebody put the emblems on there, but he also states that it has the sport button, which lead me to question myself.. Any help will be much appreciated!

The non-S has a sport button. Like the S it makes the stearing heavier, changes automatic shift points/program. It also makes the throttle more quick to accelerate, but is less noticeable than on a turbo. Seems like the owner had S envy
