Drivers door "stop"

Drivers door "stop"
2004 Mini, the drivers door just recently stopped being held ajar, when getting in or out of the car. Normal is two positions where it will stay open, but now getting out of the car, (or in) can result in being banged on the shin with the bottom of door. Any ideas on a fix?

Its the door brake that is located up by the hinges. One for each front door. Can be used on the left and right side door.
There is an early type : MINIs with production to 5/2003

Just match up what you have to the pic and you are good.
Thanks

My wife's 02 had the same problem. They sell for about $51, so I swapped the passenger side to the drivers side. You have to remove the door panel, but its fairly simple to do. I have the old style and it took a 8mm socket for the bracket to the door frame and I think a Torx T25 for the bracket to the door.

+1 Yep,
Just match up the design from the ones up top and you should be gtg. We have the links above the pics. There is the older style and newer style.
While you are at it you can spray penetrating oil #2 and #3 to help the door swing.
