what are the larest possible Wheels for a Stock R50? are 8" too wide?

Some autocrossers use 15x8 wheels With 225x45 rubber. . Very good on track. But they stick out of the wheel well a bit too much for daily driving. 7” rims fit well with a 45mm offset.. I use a 16x7 rim with 205x55 tires. Pretty good stick in the corners and reasonably priced rubber.
