New Mini owner - driver's door and gearbox issues.
Hi all!
Today I bought a Mini R53 but it has some issues that I discovered later. My driver's door sometimes won't unlock at all from inside/outside. What I was able to find is that if I hit the central locking unlock switch from the inside and immediately open the door or if outside, when unlocking the car, then the door opens fine (sometimes). But if I wait a few seconds and try to open it then, it won't work. And sometimes it wont open at all no matter what.
I read that it might be the door actuator but based on what I described above do you think that the actuator is the problem indeed or it might be something else? I sprayed some WD40 over the actuator / cables and it seems to work fine since then but I am pretty sure I will run into the problem again.
As for the gearbox - the gear stick (manual) is pretty damn hard to move from left to right. I read that it is a pin in the gearbox selector mech. and I ordered a replacement part but it will take a month or so to arrive. Do you happen to have an idea how can I temporarily fix it so I can drive the car? Lubing it won't fix it - tried that already.
Your help is appreciated!
