Default Putting the spare tire back under the car

Had to change the tire recently, so I got out the spare from under the trunk - very clever. But now, I can't seem to pull it up through the spring-loaded hole with enough force to make it catch. I'm of reasonable strength and intelligence, so I figure I must be doing something wrong. Or is this another quirky design detail? Enlighten me, please! Thanks.

What year is yours? Mine is inside the boot.

Mine's a 2006. The spare is under the car, held there by a device that bolts on inside the boot.

Mine is a 2006 also. And your right. The spare is mounted below. I just have never looked at it, and was thinking of my last car. Did you get it back in yet?

Yea those are placed really smartly under BUT they are a pain in the a@# to get them to lift back up. I got mine to lift up perfectly and then a friend had the same problem and I couldn't get hers to work. I think it's just bad engineering on the companies part.
