Default Transmission problems

I have only 55K on my 2002 Mini and he is now in the shop getting a new transmission (quote of $6500 at my mechanic and $8000 at the dealership). I have had quite a few problems with it stalling in the middle of the road on me in the past, which they blamed it on a faulty DME that they finally replaced. My warranty just expired last June and I have to pay $6500 out of my own pocket. I have contacted MiniUSA but they don't seem to want to do anything about it. I have seen quite a few cases of tranny needing to be replaced at low mileages, is there anyone out there with similar problems as what I am experiencing? Interested in joining me for a class action law suit?

I would DEFINITELY get the extended warranty if you can. I now have two other people on another Mini Forum who are interested in going in on a Class Action suit with me. The CVT is simply dangerous to drive. I could sell my car, but then nothing gets resolved. It will just become someone else's problem, and I am not sure if I could be happy with that.

Your not the only one I've heard of with this problem. I met somebody who had the same problem.

Check for silent recalls.

I asked my dealership about extended warrantees and I was told they don't offer any.

I'll bet 5-speed. The law suit has been done and has been lost.

Um... can you share some more info? My 2004 Manual Transmission just lost reverse and the dealer says he's never heard of such a thing!
I'm interested in knowing the basis of the suit and why it was lost, if you have the details.

Thank you!

Could you shed some light on where I might be able to find info on this lawsuit. I have googled it, and did not find any thing.

good luk trying to sue. we have had a couple of customer fail at this. i have noticed that going with aftermarket clutch setups (performance type) have proven to last much longer. that is my experience.
