Angry 2006 S Automatic transmission harsh downshift

Does anyone know of a design issue with the 2006 automatic transmission with harsh down shifts?
Dealer has already done a re-flash of the computer and changed the valve body. It seems to happen more often when the car has warmed up. The 3-2 down shift thumps and lurch's.

I'd guess it's a computer issue

I have the same problem with my 2005 mini cooper s automatic. After the car worms up it shifts realy hard. It's like is slips and the engine revs up and the it slams into gear. I see a lot of people have the same issue. Is this a known issue? Is this a free repair? What is the fix for it? Do we have to replace the transmission?

Thanks
RB

You got the dealer to replace the transmission for free? Was it under warranty? Is it a known issue? I need to do the same thing. I have the same issue.
How did you talk him into it?

Thanks

There is a CVT transmission lawsuit, some folks have gotten mini to replace/repair tranny while other have not the cost to repair is way to high and can exceed book value

The car had ~30,000 miles at the time. We brought the car in about 5 times for the same thing. They re-flashed the computer. No help. They changed the valve body. No help. They said it was normal and I said no it was not. Drove the car around with the service manager and pinted it out each time. Finally, the dealer called in the factory tech's and agreed to replace with a new one. No problems since....

Default Expensive car to repair and maintain

This Mini is a very expensive car to repair and maintain. My wife's Mini has 40,000 miles after 5 years and needs coolant and power steering hoses, brakes, oil pressure sensors, thermostat housing et.al.

Default CVT lawsuit

Thank you,

Does anyone have the link to the Mini Cooper CVT Lawsuit? I can try to push a copy of it at the dealer to see if it will help.

Thanks again.
