Default Brake pad warning light - How long do I have ??

I've just had the warning light come on, on my Mini Cooper S (pretty sure it's for the rears as they were mentioned at brake fluid change last week) and was curious how long (realistically) I have before I need to get the pads changed? - it's just that I have a 300 mile round trip to do tomorrow (mostly motorway) and wanted someone's opinion as to whether it would be ok for say 500 miles which would allow me time to get it booked in and so on after the weekend...

Thanks in advance, Gary.

Default RE: Brake pad warning light - How long do I have ??

The reason the light is on is because the sensor is grounding out on the metal rotor, hence closing the circuit for the bulb. the pads are probably @ 3mm on inner pad or less, strongly recommend pad replacement prior to trip.
