Just brought my girl home on Friday, been having alot of fun and for those of you who do not know this..... Your Cooper S WILL do 150mph. I did it on Sunday driving through Frankfurt on the Autobahn. I was sad to part ways with my Bullitt and I thought I would miss it.... I thought wrong, I LOVE my Cooper S. However I am looking to mod up to 230 or so HP without investing my kids college funds. I am looking at the 15% Pulley (aluminum) Borla Catback Exhaust, CAI from H&N, and a tune. I have not found a tuner yet so I am looking. What I want to know is will all of this get me to my goal?????

I am not sure what is all onmy COOPER S. I bought it used with 19k miles on it. It is incredibly quick though. I did it again last night on the same stretch of autobahn with a friend of mine because he did not believe it was possible...... he is a believer now

Since you said something about a pulley, it's an 02-06 so, if you can do 150mph it's already modified to above 200whp. Mine is probably just under 200 and won't go that fast.

Anyways, if you're looking for 230hp you'll need a pulley, intake, exhaust, head, cam, injectors and a really good tune. That should get you 225-240.

Oh, and don't get an aluminum pulley, the supercharger shaft is steel and you don't want aluminum and steel in an interference fit when temp changes as much as does.

Thanks for the advise...... what would you recommend as far as the pulley, and tune go??

One other question, mine has an aggressive exhaust tone, seems louder than the other ones I have heard, and when I get on it, I really hear the supercharger whine, is that normal, or would that be because there may be after market "hook ups" on it?

Could be... look at it and see. I would suggest any 15 or 16% pulley that isn't aluminum. I don't know what tuners you have over there either so, can't comment on that. Here I would suggest RMW.

Superchargers are meant to have a loud whine when you are going fast, they are not like a turbo which is much more quiet in the engine bay but makes your exhaust starting booming as you accelerate along. My JCW exhaust is rather quiet its not too noisey at all for twin sports exhausts.

How much boost does the engine come with? and has anyone went any higher and by how much? Boost is a really cheap way to get alot of hp but it seems like the mini's engine is a bit high compression to boost alot?

The pulleys underdrive the supercharger increasing the boost
