There is a hose next to what i think is just a box the one that says MINI.. I accidently broke it and now the hose is just hanging. Any ideas in what its called and how i can fix it?????????

I am new to this forum. I have a problem, I was replacing the air filter in my 2004 S. I noticed a hole in the air hose or snorkel (I purchased the replacement part already). Does anyone know of any instructions or directions? I purchased the Haynes Repair Manual, but it doesn't cover this procedure. Is this something I should be attempting or should I taking it to the dealership?
