Default NEWB!!! Saying hi and Q's

Hello all, new to the Mini world. I just picked up yesterday a super high mile 05 Cooper S with manual trans. 244k to be exact. No engine lights, runs fantastic, has some rust on tail light area? Is that common? Also there is a blue metal thing on the pass side of the motor? I assume oil catch can? It won't be delivered to me til Saturday 3/1. I just bought it at dealer auction and am going to use it for daily driving and teach kids how to drive stick. TIA

Welcome NEWB, am fairly new to minis also. I found what I thought was a great mini turns out I was very wrong after only a month of driving spun a main bearing. I am now in the process of rebuilding the motor so now time for upgrades, as far your question is it round with a couple of hoses coming from it? Probably your oil catch.
