New Motor in a 2009 S
New to the forum and a Mini (2009 S) long story short the motor is done (which I am now realizing is a common problem with the new Mini version)? What I would like to know is can I swap in a new turbo motor for my old one? If I need new motor mounts to adapt to the new motor are they available?
Here is the Issue:
Oil light was coming on when the Mini is warm and idling (stop light or sign)
Checked the oil pressure sensor wire (OK)
Replaced the oil pressure sensor (no change)
Did an engine oil flush (new oil & filter)
Dr Google research and found info on loose oil pump chain issue
Dealer diagnostics did not find a problem (slight leak from the turbo return line - but said not significant enough to cause the pressure drop)? Dealer suggested the oil pump needs replacing
Had the dealer replaced the oil pump chain, both sprockets, oil pump, turbo supply and return lines (and cam bearings)
noticed it was still leaking a bit of oil
Oil light at idle problem returned
While replacing a taillight it spewed out a puddle of coolant
Had it towed to the dealer
Dealer did an overnight pressure test?
The thermostat housing cracked dumping the coolant so I had towed back to the dealer
Dealer tells me there is signs of significant engine wear (60 000K on the car) and the motor needs replacing
Considering either a rebuild or if possible dropping a newer S motor in it (if possible)?

Low mileage S - only done 69000km
Only one answer: Sounds like a REAL crappy car. Mine just started for the first time in 6 MONTHS. Apparently thermostat and throttle body, etc etc. Almost R20 000 repair. Selling is the answer I reckon. Pity cause I love these cars.
