Hi guys,

I have some rattling coming from my dash near the sensor in the center of the upper dash. The dealership wants to charge me $400 just to put it back into place. Any work arounds or advice? Thanks in advance!

 

I have that same problem in my 03 Cooper S, if you figure something out please let me know.

 

use two wiper inserts and cut to desired length, place in front of the dash where it meets the windoow and that will hold the centering pin on the underside of the dash in place.

 

This was a problem I had fixed a couple of years ago (at the dealer). I remember the dealer telling me the real fix ment taking out the dash. The thing thats rattling is a dash board guide pin inside it's housing. It sounds like it's the senser but it's not. The good news is other than the labor time it takes there's no parts to buy, you just wrap the pin with felt or something similar and reinstall. I haven't had a problem since they fixed it.

 

I have an 05 mini s andI found the problem was the glove compartment door was making the noise. I took the door off and then remounted it and the problem went away.
