My 2002 stored all winter, battery dead and I can't get the hatch open because my car has no pull ring. I know I can jump with a booster under the hood, but looking thru the owner's manual (pg. 27) and seeing the emergency ring that's not there prompted me to call BMW NA for an explanation. I'm the original owner & after giving the VIN they agreed there's no pull ring on my car. I plan on keeping this car & would like an alternate means of opening the hatch. Anybody else have this minor problem?

 

I would bet you could upgrade and add it ... get a newer 05 latch with the pull stuff
