Default Installing iPod Interface

I installed the Mini iPod interface unit in my 2006 Cooper S and I don't seem to have any power to the unit. Installing the unit went just as the instructions said, but there is no power to the unit. Any idea where I may have gone wrong? Does the Mini unit disable itself when removed?

You can find the process in the user manual or on several websites, also in the you tube videos. Just search and enjoy.
