The rubber edge of my 2005 convertible top has deteriorated - actually was visible long ago, but finally took it into the dealership. Sure looks like a manufacturing defect. I am still waiting to find out is Customer Service will replace the top. Has anybody else experienced the same problem?

So far, the people at Customer Service are very nice and are investigating. I am hoping they do the right thing.

 

By the way, other than the convertible top and a passenger seat issue, we love the car!!!

 

I have this same problem. 2005 Mini Cooper S. The rubber all along the convertible top trim has cracked and is flaking off. What was the result of your issue?

Mini did nothing for me. Customer service was terrible! I got busy and gave up fighting. Now I tell everybody about my lousy experience. I am in the market for a new car and don't trust BMW. I am still very angry about how I was treated fir an obvious manufacturers defect. Clearly I am not thenonly one.
