I know this topic must be well discussed, but please be patience.

I'm (my wife) looking for it and have several questions. I already have troublesome Italian toys (which I love), so Mini will be semi everyday car (I have everyday cars).

I don't want to deal with any maintenance issues and our budget is up to 12K.

1) Is it generally reliable? Which year should I buy or avoid?
2) I prefer S model, but how about its readability (supercharger, etc)?
3) I see very reasonably priced over 100K cars, what do you think?
4) Is timing belt metal chain? Don't have to replace it?

Any other suggestions?
