Buying a Roadster in 2024?
Hi everyone. I’m a long time reader and ready to join the Mini club. I have my heart set on a Roadster and have read many of the posts here, but wanted to ask your topline advice. Is there anything in particular to look out for other than the obvious things like service + MOT history? At what mileage do things start needing replacing? I found a 2012 with 120,000 on it, which would normally put me off - but it has only 1 owner, FSH and no MOT failures which is encouraging. Or would lower miles be better, even with more owners?
Is the standard cooper more reliable than the S? (Even if it is less fun) Given that the car is no longer produced, would it be difficult to repair/replace the roof if necessary?
I’m planning on a European road trip later in the summer, so is it easy enough to get them fixed if there are issues?
Apologies for all the questions and thank you in advance. Can’t wait to put the roof down and have some fun - if it ever stops raining.
