Just took my 2015 JCW to ask about all the engine fires due to the turbo heating up was catching fire. I looked at youtube and watched some go up after shutting them down. Found out there is a recall for pre 2012 turbo Mini's. Seems the trouble was with a circuit board that let the water continue to cool the turbo unit till the temp went down stopped.Check youtube under mini Cooper engine fires. Still love my Mini. After all, it's my 3rd JCW.
