New to the forum.

I got a 2011 mini S in 2012. I drive it for daily commute and enjoy it a lot. However my love has been deteriorating since last year.

Last year, the infamous HPV issue happened to my car . I was shocked when I heard that it costs more than $1000. Luckily and thanks to an owner of a local repair shop, I was told that I can get assistance from Mini USA. Finally, I got assistance from Mini and paid 15% of the total cost.

In January, I sent my car to the dealership to get the oil change. And I was stunned when I was told that I need to spend at least $1000~2000 to get several things repaired, such as oil solenoid valves, brakes, drive belt, etc...

I am now afraid of taking my car to the dealership since I may be told more issues and more $$$ to repair.

I am wondering whether it is normal and would like to be prepared for the next visit.

How much have you spent on your car for the necessary maintenance/repairs? Would love to know your experience
