I bought a pre-owned 2009 Mini S this week from a Lexus car dealer, and took it to an authorized Mini dealer for an inspection. They told me the VIN does not carry a warranty in the U.S. They said it was probably built for Europe, but not sure. I notified the Lexus dealer and we reversed the purchase. My concern, outside the warranty issue because I would make the dealer pay for transferring the warranty to the US, is that the European fuel system may be different, because they don't use ethanol in Europe, and ethanol is a dirty burning fuel. I'm afraid the American used fuel will damage the engine, and possibly void the warranty. However, doesn't every car that enters the US have to be up to American fuel standards? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
