Question Aggressive Downshifting

I recently purchased a used 2012 Mini Cooper Hardtop, automatic. Hasn't even hit 2,000 miles yet. As I've been driving it, I'm noticing that downshifting to a stop is extremely aggressive. It doesn't matter if I am in Sport Mode or not. At first I thought it was me. I previously owned a large SUV, and the breaks were not sensitive at all. Moving to a much (MUCH) smaller car, I assumed my behavior just needed to adjust.

However, as I've been driving the MINI more, I have noticed it isn't me or my breaking. Even when I try coasting to a stop, the shifting isn't smooth at all.

Should I be concerned about this? Is this normal? If I have to take it in, that's fine since it's still under warranty. I just don't want to be damaging the car if something is wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've read somewhere that the automatics were a bit on the "not so liked" list so I would take it in if I were you just to get it check out. Good luck.

Sounds like the shift points are in sport mode all the time. If under warranty the dealership can try to flash the ECU update to see if this changes. Also check for leaks, I know its a 2012 but you never know what happened with the previous owner.

Thanks
