Unhappy check engine code 3490

2014 Countryman S-ALL4. Approx. 83k miles on it. Check engine light came on. Took it to the local Euroshop that has a good reputation. Pulled a code 3490 off of it. They're telling me it needs a new thermostat housing and while they're in there they might as well replace the thermostat. Car has been running fine. No overheating, no problems starting, no coolant leaks, nothing. They're wanting to charge me about $700 for the repair. Anyone else ever experience this?
Thanks!

Thermostat repair:

You have a 2014 so you will not need that extra sensor.

Here is the part to save you some money.

You could DIY it for less.
