Does gear shift knob light up?

Default Does gear shift **** light up?
My 2009 JCW mini clubman just went in for service and I noticed at night my manual gear shift **** is not lighted. During the day it appears to be lit. The dealer says the **** is not lighted. Does anyone know what's what.

Not sure what you mean. There are no lights overhead on when I drive at night and I cannot see gear shift pattern. During the day the gear shift pattern seems to glow as if it is back lit.
