04 Mini Cooper S, manual 6 speed..I recently ran battery too low to start, so I took the battery out and charged battery overnight..next morning..I tried to start..no crank..only a progressive humming noise..starts at a low frequency then runs up to steady sound..stops when key off..towed to mechanic..they unloaded it..started right up..next day, drove 20 miles ,played golf, went to start..same sound..towed again to same mechanic..same thing..started right up..they changed starter motor..ok, for 10 test starts..failed on 11 th..they realized it was not the starter..put old starter in..now trying to reproduce fault..no fault codes..could it be that the ECM just needs some miles on it to reset itself after removing battery..mechanics are pulling their hair out figuirng this one out
Maybe I can get some help on this forum???
Had this code pop up while driving. When I parked the car, I shut it off and when I came back to start it, nothing. Gauges and everything works just nothing as far as cranking it over... I changed alternators, since I had a new one that I hadn't put in yet and still nothing....I tested the wire from the alternator (Red) to the starter and it ohmed out good, tested the wire from the starter to the battery connection terminal (Blue) and same thing. Tested the voltage from the battery to starter and had 6.9v. Also tested the fuses (Circled in Blue) in the engine and circuit opened and closed and had great voltage. Any help from someone that delt with this is greatly appreciated....also can a dead remote battery cause the car not to start?
