Major oil leak

Major oil leak
Hello everyone.... I recently bought my first Mini, a gorgeous 2011 Countryman with 20k miles.. Everything seemed to be going great until I noticed a small oil leak( 2 or 3 drops here and there) about a week ago. I Googled it and came to the conclusion that it was the crankshaft seal that gave out since the leak was from the passenger side of the engine. The leak did not seem like a major issue since it was leaking a couple of drops. While I was trying to move the car to the side of the house, before taking it to the shop the next day, I reached to grab a jacket in the back seat and accidentally stepped on the gas pedal and revved it pretty hard for about 2 seconds.. Everything seemed to be OK since I checked the concrete for any additional oil leak, but when I drove the car to the dealership the next day, the Mini pretty much leaked like the Valdez. The dealership notified me what needed needed to be fixed due to a major oil leak : timing chain tensioner sealing ring, vibration dampener, along with the crankshaft seal totalling $1700. My question to you guys is whether my darn accidental revving caused all this damage or if the small leak was due to the other parts that needed to be replaced?
