I have recently purchased a 2002 Mini Cooper R50 and of course the f-ing key fobs don't work. I have done all the do it yourself programming I can find and they still don't work. I contacted a dealer and they told me without a barcode for the key I would have to buy a new key at $190 and have it prgrammed for another $50. I promptly told the guy to go to hell. So I researched again and nothing. I have been looking for a reasonably priced scan tool that can program a key fob to unlock and lock a frickin door. So I joined this forum to find out if there is one on the market available to the public with this capability. If you know of one please let me know. If there is one I would like to help other enthusiast's that have to go to the frickin dealer for something so basic. Thanks in advance.

 

Sorry but the Dealer is correct ... They should be able to get the code from the Vin number to program the fob you have ...
OR have an aftermarket Keyless installed and do away with the OEM
