Oil reset

Oil reset
OK...I have looked around here and found a couple of posts about how to reset the Oil Service. I turned the key to the second position while holding the odo reset... It says "test"....as I continue to hold waiting for it to say "reset"....it goes to the odo/clock reading and is giving me an option for 12 or 24 hour readout for the clock....no "reset" readout. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!....

Never mind!!!! I got it!...there is apparently a couple of ways to do it depending on what year modle you have. Anyways...I work at a Mazda dealership and I had our lube tech (very thourogh guy) to look it over, change the oil and filter (castrol syntec 5w30). I am going to change my oil every 5k or 6 months, whichever comes first after reading some of your horror stories! Oil and filter was only 45 bucks...cheap insurance!

2003 Mini
Just for future readers
To reset the oil light on a 2003 base model Mini this is what you do
(or at least what works for me):
1. push in the odometer mileage reset button and hold it
2. put in the key and turn it to the first or second position (don't start the car, the position right before start)
3. give it a second and the indicator will blink then show "reset"
4. release and push the button a couple of times. You will notice to the left of where it says "reset" there is a little number that increases each time you press the button.. from 2, to 5, to 10.. I'm assuming this is the thousands of miles you want the reset to be good for? I stop when it says 10... 3 pushes.
5. When you get to your desired interval number press AND HOLD the button one more time, turn the key back to the off position.
That's it. This also resets the "mile inspection" light.
