Default oticed that my speedometer on my '06 is quite optomistic

I have notice that my speedometer on my '06 Mini is quite optomistic. It is reading 65 mph when I am doing 60. The oddometer is slightly optomistic too. It picks up a tenth of a mile every 3 or so miles. My wheels, tires and gear ratios are all stock. Is this all electronic and something I can ask the dealer to re-program to make it accurate, or do I need to change a gear in the speedo drive mechanism? (seems unlikely to exist how everything seems to be electronic on this car)

Nah, you can't change. It's pretty typical for almost any car though. In Europe they have very strict laws against speedometers reading below the actual speed so manufacturers play it safe and make it read a little high.

I have the same problem with mine. My husband and I tested it out today and it is 5 - 6 mph above the correct speed. I have an appointment with my dealer to look at it. They told me that it isn't possible. I'll keep you posted.
