Rear Hatch Latch

The "hatch open" light on dash remains lit regardless of how many times it gets closed. When opening the hatch - it makes a servo kind of noise - like a lock trying to lock or something, Closes and locks okay. Any suggestions? - Thanks

hatch closing fails: dome light drains battery
Not only does the "door open" light stay on with all doors securely closed but, the dome light and 'boot' area lights remain on after locking the car. The malfunction is with the hatch latch. To avoid battery drainage, you have to manually turn off the dome light. Does MINI cover such manufacturing defects after 6 years?
