Just bought 2012 Mini Convertible S. Can anyone tell me where to get the proper cable to plug my iphone into the usb plug? The book says go to a mini dealer. I'm betting theres another place to pick one up. Any thoughts? Thanks

 

I would check the Apple store.

 

What options does your MINI have a ( Nav / MINI connnected / Simple speedo display ? Bluetooth.. etc )

What phone do you have or apple / 3rd party product ?

 

It does not have Nav. Simple speedo display. It has Bluetooth, Voice activation, Sat Radio, HD tuner, Single Play CD player, Aux jack and USB jack. Stereo controls on steering wheel. We are using Iphone 5c phones

 

So looks like you just need the Audio Y cable , not the media version as you dont have MINI connected or Nav.

Thanks for the info...but let me understand this...I have a usb plug on my mini, the standard cable that comes with the phone does not work with the interface on the car? So, I need to buy a $83 cable to interface my phone? Why is that? That seems like a good chunk of cash to be able to do that.

 

No, because it has a channel for the audio and a channel for the communication ( Data ) , hence the Y cable.

I have it and it works great. Charges the phone also . F56+ 2014 Newer MINIs just have one cable.
