Default How loud is a standard exhaust?

I purchased my first mini last weekend. It is a 2006 with a manual transmission. While in the vehicle, I hear the exhaust in the rear of the car while accelerating, but it is fairly quiet when I am up to speed. But my wife says she can hear the exhaust after I am several blocks away. I believe it is a stock exhaust, with a 4" tip. I am wondering if this is normal, or if I should have someone check the exhaust for any holes or other problems. All of the noise sounds like it is coming from the pipe.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I am not a big gear head

Thanks for any help.

Sean

Thanks for the help. Sounds like there was some work done to the exhaust. Now to figure out how much it will cost to go back to the standard set.

Thanks again.

Yea, as i accelerate hard, my buddy says the supercharger whining is the only thing he hears over the exhaust. It's not super loud stock. Good luck on your project!
