Default Ambient lighting

My 2012 has the ambient lighting that you can change the color and brightness of. Does anyone know how to turn it off? Could not find that in the manual.

Your manual should go over how to set the lights to a single color. I do not believe you can turn them off unless you somehow code it in the ECU. There is a thread here that should be helpful to you for getting it to stick to one color.

it is a very strange feature, I have tried several different colors and usually keep it as low as possible. I started with blue thinking it will not be as harsh, but the red actually makes it seem darker in the cockpit. It doesn't bug me, I just wonder how they did it without causing glare in the windshield.

You may have some luck finding a MINI specialist shop and seeing what they might be able to do in terms of possibly coding them to turn off permanently.

It Cannot be turned off by using the button. Unless you have NCS expert and turn the color function off. It can be dimmed down and use a less harsh color like the orange, yellow, or red mixed color.
