Default 1 x Headlight High Bean fault

Hi, I have a '02 Cooper. I had a faulty lighting switch which was causing some erratic light functions. I replaced the light stalk & now all functions are correct. However, on the driver's side (RH drive) the full beam does not illuminate. The bulb is good. When I had the issues with the stalk, both full beams would illuminate when I used the indicators (when lights were in off position), but I had to switch the lights on & off to quench. I thought the stalk was at fault which I exchanged & it has sorted everything else except this one bulb that won't go onto heads. I've noticed quite a number of R50's driving around that have the same bulb out. Is there a known fault & cure?A point in the right direction would be appreciated.
