I got a 2004 Mini Cooper s , it only has 80k miles. But the transmission grinds fifth gear, it drives nice but grinds fifth. Does anyone have the same problem? Or knows of anything that can help? I just wanna know all my options before I pull the motor. Also the shifter is knotchy, is that how they all are or is my whole tranny going out?

 

Hey Danik44, i also have an 04 MCS. I just hit 60k on it yesterday. I don't have a problem with grinds but it does get knotchy. When it does, i go and get an oil change. That pretty much solves that problem. Sorry i couldn't help any.

 

When I drive it I have to let the rpms drop and then it goes into fifth with no grind! And also what kind of oil do you use?
